Transformers Special Edition Camaro Misses the Mark

GM has announced the release of a special edition Camaro to tie in with Transformers 2. The special edition is a US$995 option for your Rally Yellow Camaro that gets you gloss black rally stripes with embedded Transformers logo, an Autobot badge on each of the front guards and the wheel center caps, an Autobot logo embroidered on the centre console and a Transformers logo on the door sills.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Special EditionI think it’s a great idea to capitalise the polularity of the Camaro and the Transformers franchise, but the way GM has gone about it has left me disappointed. You’re paying almost US$1000 for what amounts to little more than a bunch of stickers. There’s really nothing that ‘Special’ about it, and it’s not even the right yellow!

What I’d like to see is a special edition that costs a bit more, but painted the same colour as the latest incarnation of Bumblbee, with the same bodykit, same pattern wheels and a pair of exhausts you could fit your fist into.

I feel like GM has disrespected both the franchise and an excellent car by putting in such a poor effort. Considering they announced this package at Comicon in front of a few hardcore Transformers fans, I wonder how it was received?
